Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner, is not far from the Gasthof Rose. From Matrei, which can be reached from your accommodation in Virgen in a few minutes, you can comfortably take the gondola lift to the Großglockner Resort ski area.

There is also a ski lift in Virgen itself, which offers relaxed skiing in winter at an affordable price. The wide and snow-covered slope is ideal for beginners and children. Incidentally, it is only a few steps from Pension Rose. The cross-country ski trails also start not far from your inn in the Virgen Valley and offer you wonderful views of the Venice massif while you enjoy the tranquility in the untouched nature.

After a long day in the mountains of East Tyrol, dinner is already waiting for you at Gasthof Rose. After a good glass of wine or a cool beer, you can relax in our cozy rooms. The next morning you are fit and rested to tackle the next mountain tour.
