Three types, each with character

This is how carpenters on the Turracher Höhe have always built their granaries … almost. Solid pine, skillfully worked by hand… today’s difference: between the wood on the inside (heart-warmingly cozy) and the wood on the outside (perfectly integrated into the natural setting), a layer of insulation guarantees pleasant temperatures regardless of the season.

But they also branch off the well-trodden path: with huts conceived as towers. The same principle as in Manhattan or San Gimignano also applies on the Turracher Höhe: for lots of space on a compact footprint, you have to go tall. With every floor in every hut delightfully unexpected, though always “original Hollmann”: lovingly appointed, full of charming ideas and surprises. And with the comforts of a suite beneath the stars. Many stars. Those above the Turracher Höhe sparkle especially brightly. In other words, a holiday for the sophisticated traveler..

Three huts – traditional granaries reinterpreted, sleek and slender, inserted into the forest. Fascinating details surprising at every step, every glance. Conceived, devised and realized by Robert Hollmann, once a prominent stage actor and confectioner, now a tourism free spirit and out-of-the-box thinker for whom hotels are an atrocity. And here? A village square with fountain and firepit for a cozy sit-down. Fun times close to the hut flow seamlessly into active holidaymaking that extends out to the horizon: pistes, cross-country trails, hiking paths beginning outside the front door. All is good, as long as we remain untamed and unchained.

Fairytale Forests and Magical Pistes
The Turracher Höhe – one of the snowiest areas in Austria. With everything that fans of active winter holidays desire. 42 km of pistes, from beginner to expert, inject all the variety you could wish for into every day of your stay. A Snow Park and XXL Funslope push the young crowd and young-at-heart to their limits, while the kids are also in for the ultimate treat on a piste all of their own.

Cross-country ski trails run through the fairytale winter forest, hiking paths are kept clear even in the depths of winter. The frozen lake on the Turracher Höhe doesn’t only offer skaters a great ice surface, it also treats them to an impressive panorama of the mountain world straddling Styria and Carinthia.

The spectacular ride on the Nocky-Flitzer – a 1.6 km alpine coaster – will prompt either yodels, if you have mastered the local art form, or unabashed yells. And if you have what it takes, how about swishing down the new Funcross course. Speed thrills…

One of the most beautiful moments of a Turrach winter is when you eventually return to your cozy, home-away-from-home hut at Hollmann am Berg. Be that Toni, Luki or Franzi. You are guaranteed to have a lot to share around the fireplace, while your tired muscles will be “aching” to relax in the sauna …
