Swimming at Forstsee
The Forstsee is a popular outdoor bathing lake for young and old. Not so well known to most people, it is very popular with insiders. The shore is accessible everywhere. However, you will look in vain for a trimmed lawn here. The shore consists mostly of gravel, rocks and forest. But the nature-loving Forstsee bather appreciates this. Otherwise, the infrastructure does not offer what you would expect from a normal lido. There are 2 toilet facilities. There are no changing rooms - why would there be? It is a natural bathing lake and not a conventional municipal lido.
The water quality is actually the same as that of Lake Wörthersee. The lake is not of natural origin, but is actually used as a reservoir to generate electricity and is connected to Lake Wörthersee by a pressure pipe. From time to time, water from Lake Wörthersee is pumped into Lake Forstsee.
The lake is only suitable for children to a limited extent and in a few places, as the rocks pose a risk of injury for inexperienced swimmers. The nice thing, however, is that you can swim without any time pressure and always find a nice spot. Equipped with enough provisions, you can spend the whole day at the lake. The high-voltage line on the south bank should not be a problem, however. The bathing lake is very popular with nudists. People swim naked everywhere.
If you find just swimming too boring, you can also devote yourself to other activities: e.g. mountain biking, mushroom picking, jogging, hiking.
The conventional bather looking for comfort is not the target group of Lake Forstsee. Here you will mainly find naturists, hikers and sportsmen who appreciate the wild nature of the shore area.
