The witches' route owes its name to the witches' path in Bromberg. There, 7 plaques tell of the burning of witches and the fate of the herbalist Afra Schickh. For beer lovers, there is the private brewery Wolfsbräu in Thernberg. Bucklige Welt beer is produced and sold here. History buffs can visit the Archduke Johann Documentation in Thernberg and animal lovers can visit the Lechner alpaca farm and adventure farm.
Start of the route in Bromberg. Turn right onto the road towards Schlatten. Continue through the Schlattental, past the Schlattentalhof, and on to Oberschlatten. Then keep right and go over switchbacks to Steinbichl, further over Holzerhöfen – always follow the course of the road. In Schlag, turn right onto the L145. Pass Eichberg and continue on the road to Thernberg. Pass the fortified church in Thernberg and the Landgasthof Thaler heading towards Bromberg, and pass the Erlebnisbauernhof and Alpakafarm Lechner, follow the right curve, over the Bromberger Straße, and through Unterbromberg back to the starting point.
The route is marked with signs "Hexenroute No. 8" in lilac color.
When going out, we recommend wearing a cycling helmet. Wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Think of rain and sun protection. Take enough to drink with you.
Make sure when choosing the route that it matches your experience and your fitness. Inform yourself in advance about the weather forecast.
