There are some classic via ferrata routes in the Achensee region, and also modern routes such as the Achensee 5-summit via ferrata, which stands out thanks to its breathtaking views into the depths below and far into the distance.
This special via ferrata route runs across the five main peaks of the Rofan mountains. This provides climbers with the opportunity to tackle each of the summits individually and also to cut the journey short. Novice alpinists don’t necessarily have to work their way through the two kilometre tour. Crossing all the routes is reserved for experienced via ferrata users (climbing time 6-8 hours).
The five summits in the Rofan are next to each other: Haidachstellstand (level of difficulty B/C), Rosskopf (C/D), Seekarlspitze (C/D), Spieljoch (C) and Hochiss (CD) .
Proper equipment is required for all via ferrata routes: helmet, chest belt and climbing harness, via ferrata set, sturdy footwear and leather gloves. The approach to the via ferrata routes is very easy which means you can venture quickly into this vertical rocky realm. There is no need for complicated knots or rope manoeuvres, as long as you have certain basic skills, such as surefootedness and a head for heights.
