MTB Tour Kathen Circuit

This mountain bike tour starts at Going Tourist Information Office and you cycle past the Raiffeisen Bank and the baker’s to the large car park by the fire station at the end of the village. You cross the square and turn right onto the Auweg. The gravel path leads through the forest and along the stream to the Stanglwirt hotel, where you turn right onto the minor road heading towards Reith and past the football pitch. Turn off right onto the road before the bridge and keep following the signs “Hollenauer Kreuz”. This is the start of a climb which takes about 50 minutes. You bike past the Unterastberg farmstead and the pond covered with water lilies, an irresistible place for a rest. At the Wand farm, stop following the signs to Hollenauer Kreuz. Instead, turn left and head towards Kathen. Once you’re at the top you have unique views of the Wilder Kaiser from the Kitzbüheler Horn, and a short gravel path leads to the Greiln farm. From there follow the asphalt road into the centre of Ellmau. Here you keep to the right, past the tourist office and then turn right into the Alte Strasse which brings you back to Going.
