This varied hike takes you from Filzmoos through idyllic forest landscapes to Filzwiese and onwards towards Bachlalm.  Starting at theExperience Poral Filzmoos in the village centre, the route first leads past the pilgrimage church “Zum Filzmooser Kindl” before descending into the valley. From there, the trail gradually climbs through shady mountain forest, crossing the old Hachau high-level road several times. Along the way, small clearings repeatedly open up between the trees, offering magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the impressive Dachstein massif. A special natural highlight awaits you at Filzwiese, a beautiful and unspoilt raised bog. Here, you can experience the remarkable diversity and tranquillity of the alpine landscape. At the same time, a magnificent panoramic view opens up towards the Bischofsmütze, Rötelstein, Torstein, Mitterspitz and the Dachstein with its distinctive south face. After a relaxing break, the hike continues towards Bachlalm. Información sobre la ruta
Ruta
The starting point for this varied hike is the Experience Portal Filzmoos in the centre of the village. From here, first cross the road and follow the path towards the well-known pilgrimage church “Zum Filzmooser Kindl”. The church provides a particularly atmospheric start to the tour and invites you to pause for a moment before continuing your hike. The trail then leads downhill via Kirchbichl in the direction of Hotel Bischofsmütze. Follow the road downhill until you reach the bridge. Just before the bridge, turn left and continue towards the head of the valley. The route initially takes you past Intersport Flory. Continue along the narrow lane until you reach Buschhäusl. From here, the trail becomes noticeably steeper. Follow the increasingly steep road uphill until you reach the first hairpin bend. Right at this bend, the hiking trail branches off to the right. Via a series of constructed steps, you now enter the shady mountain forest. After only a short distance, you cross the old Hachau high-level road for the first time. After crossing the road, continue along the forest trail. The path winds its way through the dense woodland and gradually climbs higher until you reach the high-level road again. Cross the road once more and follow the marked hiking trail, which leads you through the forest again. After a while, you reach the high-level road for the third time. Cross it once again and then follow the signposts towards Filzwiese/Bachlalm. A particularly scenic section of the hike now begins. The trail winds its way through peaceful, shady mountain forest, with small clearings appearing time and again between the trees. These openings offer beautiful and unexpected views of the surrounding mountain landscape. It is precisely this changing scenery that makes the trail so atmospheric: at times you walk protected beneath the dense canopy of the forest, while at other times you emerge into a clearing and can enjoy sweeping views across the impressive mountain panorama.

Tip for a short break: At one of the clearings, you will find a bench that is perfect for a short rest. From here, you can enjoy a particularly beautiful panoramic view of Bischofsmütze, Rötelstein, Torstein, Mitterspitz, Dachstein and its distinctive south face. Take a moment to relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery. After this varied section through the forest, you eventually reach Filzwiese. This idyllic meadow is a beautiful destination in its own right, nestled within the impressive natural surroundings of the Dachstein massif. Here, you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the mountains before continuing your hike towards Bachlalm. From Filzwiese, follow the marked hiking trail towards Bachlalm. Allow approximately one hour of walking time for this section. The trail continues uphill until you reach the high point, from where the route then descends towards Bachlalm.

Return Route

For the return journey, follow the signposts towards Jaussenstation Schnitzberg. Continue along the marked trail until you reach the area of Pirnesgraben. Here, turn left and follow the descending footpath. The initially narrow and natural trail gradually becomes wider and eventually turns into a forest road. Continue downhill along the forest road, always following the corresponding signposts towards Filzmoos. As you continue your return journey, you will eventually reach the village of Filzmoos again. Follow the signs back to the Filzmoos Adventure Portal in the centre of the village, where your varied hike comes to an end. This tour combines peaceful forest trails, idyllic clearings and impressive panoramic views with the spectacular mountain scenery surrounding Filzmoos. In particular, the views of the distinctive peaks of the Dachstein massif make this hike a rewarding experience for anyone wishing to discover the natural beauty around Filzmoos at a leisurely pace.
