This varied hike takes you from Filzmoos through idyllic forest landscapes to Filzwiese and onwards towards Bachlalm. Starting at theExperience Poral Filzmoos in the village centre, the route first leads past the pilgrimage church “Zum Filzmooser Kindl” before descending into the valley. From there, the trail gradually climbs through shady mountain forest, crossing the old Hachau high-level road several times. Along the way, small clearings repeatedly open up between the trees, offering magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the impressive Dachstein massif. A special natural highlight awaits you at Filzwiese, a beautiful and unspoilt raised bog. This unique landscape is characterised by small peat pools, wet meadows and natural bog areas, providing a habitat for a number of rare plant species. Here, you can experience the remarkable diversity and tranquillity of the alpine landscape. At the same time, a magnificent panoramic view opens up towards the Bischofsmütze, Rötelstein, Torstein, Mitterspitz and the Dachstein with its distinctive south face. A good backpack is helpful, and for routes in alpine terrain, a hat, gloves, a good jacket, and pants are essential basic equipment. Sturdy, waterproof footwear, sunglasses, sun protection, and plenty of fluids are also crucial. A flashlight, map material, knife, and a small first aid kit should always be part of your gear.
Available GPS data – like hiking maps – are only intended as orientation aids, as they can never fully represent the exact layout or detail of a trail in reality.
