The Sunnseitn Loop Ramsau (SD 821) in Filzmoos and the Schladming-Dachstein region combines a sporting challenge with a varied alpine landscape. Between gentle valleys, dense forests, and wide alpine meadows,...
The route passes through traditional villages such as Ramsau am Dachstein, Schladming, Mandling, and Pichl, showcasing the diversity of the region between Salzburg and Styria. Agricultural landscapes, small farms, and alpine infrastructure alternate with impressive panoramic viewpoints.
This tour is aimed at endurance-oriented cyclists who want to combine physical activity with scenic enjoyment. The combination of alpine scenery, cultural insights, and varied terrain makes it one of the most impressive circular routes in the Alpine region.
From Mandling, the route continues to Pichl and then follows cycle paths and secondary roads to Schladming. In the town centre, you head towards the Planai valley station and continue via Zirngast to Oberndorf, then over Birnberg to Timmelbauer.
At Timmelbauer, you follow the Strimitzweg via Untere Leiten to Weiglhof. The route continues via Torf to the Brandlhof organic farm, then on to Stockerwirt and further to Fichtenheim. At the Pichl–Vorberg junction, you keep direction towards Pichl Vorberg and descend via Steirerhof back down to Pichl.
In Pichl, you reach the Enns cycle path, which you follow to the underpass in Mandling. After that, you turn left onto the B320 and ride a short section westbound before leaving the main road again. The climb then begins on the road up to the Mandlbergkaffee, where you can enjoy regional specialties and also visit the local pine and schnapps distillery.
Through forest sections and well-rideable forest roads, the route steadily climbs back towards Filzmoos, with the final section following the same path as the outbound route.
