History-themed walk in Kuusamo City, Finland

This short walking trail will introduce you to Kuusamo's geography, life in the shoreside of lake Kuusamojärvi in the beginning of 19th century, Kuusamo's church and parish and the effects of the Lapland War.

There are four information signs along the trail with texts in English and Finnish. The trail follows the lakeside walking path, and in the summertime this area is suitable for picnic, enjoying the lake views and the surrounding nature.

There's also a sand-bottomed swimming beach right next to the starting point. While you are there, you can also take a short walk around Kirkkosaari island that is accessible by bridge for pedestrians and bikers.
