Bründlpfad

From the house at the basement square, the Bründlpfad leads through the Kellergasse and finally the Fellnergasse to the monastery gate, there you keep right and reach the high plateau, on whose dry grass Adonis flowers in spring, in summer grow countless king mules. Due to its sparseness, the area was and is used as a pasture. At the information board Maria Hilfer Kreuz, it is worth a descent to the cross, which rises idyllically. Here the carts that have been running over the stone for centuries have also left their mark. A small path leads back into the inhabited area, but you climb up again to the information board Mariahilfer Kreuz. The path now leads northwest to the Wienerhaus well and on to the quarries. Over centuries, Leithakalkstein was broken here, houses and cellars were built from it. At the end of the path you take the left path, soon you hear a small stream. It is worth to go down to the Krainerbründl and enjoy a little noise. A hollow path, flanked by thick roots, leads to a crossroads; in spring this path may lead to water. The route continues through a riding stud to the Florianisiedlung and finally back to the house at the cellar place.
Highlights:
The monastery gate or Antoniuskapelle was built in 1750, as indicated by an inscription. The high plateau gives an insight into the dry grassland typical of the slopes of the Leithagebirge, which is home to the aridity of a fauna and flora that is partly unique in Austria. The Mariahilfer Kreuz was partly carved into the rock and is located below the path. Once the farmers drove by with their heavily loaded carts, as evidenced by the track channels in the stones. At the quarries, an information board gives insights into the geology and the corresponding fauna and flora. Remains from the time when a sea raged around the Leitha Mountains are always found in the form of petrified shells and corals. The Krainerbründl is one of many Bründln in the Leitha Mountains, which initially supplied the inhabitants of the Florianisian settlement with water. The last part of the tour takes you through the historic cellar quarter.Sí
