While the imperial resorts of Ahlbeck, Bansin and Heringsdorf are located on the light-coloured, fine sandy Baltic Sea beach, the districts of Gothen, Bansin-Dorf, Alt- and Neu-Sallenthin and Sellin are embedded in a charming lake and natural landscape.

The municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf is united by its unique spa architecture and the longest promenade in Europe at eight kilometres.

The air of Heringsdorf is filled with the twittering of countless birds that frolic in the lilac bushes and the branches of the stunted pines. The noble villas with their columns and open staircases amidst the wide parkland along the promenade look almost unreal.

‘See and be seen’ - as you stroll past the magnificent buildings, you can sense what was considered chic for Berlin's high society at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Nobility and moneyed aristocracy, artists such as Lyonel Feininger, musicians such as Johann Strauss and writers such as Maxim Gorky, Theodor Fontane, Leo Tolstoy and Thomas Mann were all drawn to the glamorous Kaiserbad every summer. Even Kaiser Wilhelm II liked to stop by for a cup of tea in Heringsdorf. In the 1930s, Heinrich Mann described the seaside resort of Heringsdorf as the ‘bathtub of Berliners’. And he too was only too happy to be a guest here.

Relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the seaside resort for a while: At the end of a small avenue, just a stone's throw from Heringsdorf, lies the former Gothen manor - a place to experience and enjoy nature.

In the seaside resort of Heringsdorf, it is not only Germany's longest pier that causes a stir. The Seetelhotel Hotel Esplanade, built as the Dorotheenschlösschen, also enchants its guests.
