Bergsee Eibsee

A crystal clear natural wonder at the foot of Zugspitze

At nearly 1,000 meters, nestled sweetly into the rocky landscape, you will find the brilliant deep blue Eibsee, a jewel of the gorgeous Alpine scenery. The lake is 2.39 km long, 1.09 km wide and has a depth of 35 m (depending on water level) and along its north side has seven islands. The Eibsee is caused by a huge landslide. Not be wrong the Eibsee is one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in Upper Bavaria.
Enjoy a walk around the lake (7.2 km trail - takes about 2 hours), the magnificent views of the lake and the impressive flanks of the Waxenstein crests up to the world famous Zugspitze. Many picturesque coves and idyllic outdoor swimming pools invite you to relax or swim.

Further leisure offer motor boat tours and boat rentals. Directly at the lake you´ll find the Eibsee Hotel, right above the lake, there is the valley station of the large cable car up to Zugspitze.
