S 27 Burgauberg Loop

The starting point is the center of Stegersbach, near the bus station. From there, the trail leads past the retirement home and the sports center. It then climbs through a shady forest into the so-called Stegersbach Mountains. At the top, a wide view opens up over the center of Stegersbach and, to the east, into the hilly landscape.

The trail then descends along gravel and asphalt paths through forests, interrupted by clearings, to Burgauberg. A short detour to the Burgauberg lookout tower is worthwhile, from which you can see far into Eastern Styria – with Riegersburg Castle prominently perched on a rock in the distance. Back on the main route, the trail continues to two refreshment stops: the Kuruzzen Buschenschank (a wine tavern) and the "Der Trummer" inn.

The trail then continues past the golf course, through small patches of forest and clearings, and back to Stegersbach. Passing the HAK (university college), the elementary school, and the modern Catholic church with its staircase, you return to the starting point at the bus station via the main square.

 Easy to moderate hike on well-maintained trails. Please pay attention to traffic when crossing roads and in the golf course area. This hike is undertaken at your own risk.
