Next to it you find the sports zone with a golf course, football pitch and tennis court.

Historical: The park of Welsberg, also known as the Prenninger Park, between the railway station and the village, is closely connected with the construction of the railway through the Pustertal valley and with the flooding of 1882. The construction of the railway, which was completed in an incredibly short time (09.10.1869 - 19.11.1871), involved 966 workers, 500 wheelbarrows, 281 technicians and 58 horses every day. The construction of the railway (from Villach to Franzenfeste) was planned and supervised by the highly esteemed Chief Building Councillor Dr. h. c. Ing. Karl Prenniger - a reference to the name of the park. After only 11 years the devastating flood came! The village of Welsberg was destroyed, the masses of water washed away the railway embankments. Again, the construction teams of the Südbahn KG, had to rebuild it. With a lot of mud, large rootstocks and coarse debris, the bull meadow near the village was also overcast. The 16,800 m² grazing area was rededicated to a tourist zone and transformed into a park.

This soon fulfilled its purpose, it became a quiet and recreational zone, a socio-cultural centre for holiday guests and locals.
